This 15 partner international; interdisciplinary and cross-sector EU (Horizon 2020) project is designed to create new insights into organised crime and terrorist networks by developing an interdisciplinary multidimensional modelling approach that includes social, psychological, economic and cultural perspectives.
The project aim is to develop a deeper understanding of the dynamics of organised crime and terrorist networks in order to bring together different stakeholder groups and assist in developing new counter-strategies.
The Leeds team is overseeing the modelling process as well as leading the social science analysis and focusing upon the use of new technologies in the origination, development and sustaining of the networks.
Organized crime and terrorist networks are major threats for the European Union and its societies. First-line-practitioners such as teachers, social workers, youth worker, (mental) health care workers and community police officers are key players in early prevention and identification of radicalisation, terrorist activities and crime.
