Please tell us a bit about yourself and your background.

I am an author and a human rights journalist from Nepal. In 2016 my debut novel NIRVANA was published which has now been translated into English and hopefully will be successful in the market for international readers. I've edited and ghost written another two books as well. Apart from writing and editing books, I often bring issues of impunity and human rights violation through the newspaper where I am associated as sub editor. Acknowledging my contribution in the field of human rights, the UK government awarded me to study in this country for the year.

What motivated you to apply to study your chosen course and why did you chose Leeds?

My long cherished dream to become an expert in the field of international human rights law was my motivation to study the LLM in International and European Human Rights. Its worldwide reputation on the study of law was the obvious reason that led me choose the University of Leeds. Beside this, the quiet environment of this city which is really essential for focused study was another cause that made me apply here.

What do you think of your course, have there been any particular highlights for you?

There are many highlights. Every seminar is exciting and the lectures have inspired me throughout the course, and using research based methodology has also been a new experience for me. Being in classes full of international mates has been truly enthralling too.

How would you describe the help and guidance provided by the staff within the School?

I found the entire support system of the University very responsible. Staffs were genuinely helpful. Tutors and the professors were deft in showing flexibility. The positive aura of the school never let me feel that I was in the other side of the globe away from home.

How would you describe the facilities at the University?

I am deeply satisfied with the every facilities provide by the University. It is just simply the best. Libraries are very spacious, cosy and rich in contents. I am impressed to find every section of the university well equipped.

Have you been involved in extra-curricular activities, such as societies, summer placements etc?

Yes, as a practitioner of Meditation, I've run some session of mindfulness both inside and outside the University.

My experience in the University of Leeds has been really great. I express my sincere gratitude towards my professors and the School of Law staff for their kind support.
