Docketing Pilot

In January 2010 Lord Justice Jackson published his report on The Review of Civil Litigation Costs. In the report many civil justice practitioners were reported as being in favour of docketing. Docketing refers to the notion that a judge is assigned to a case throughout its life. Though no formal docketing procedure currently exists, an informal process is in operation in Leeds. This study considers the views of court staff, judges and local practitioners as to the operation of the Leeds scheme, its perceived benefits and its ability to be utilised more widely in other court centres.
