Membership Privacy Notice
The Community of Research Engaged Schools is a community of practice coordinated by the School of Education, University of Leeds. Its purpose is to connect schools and education settings with researchers from the University for knowledge exchange activities and to build education related research partnerships.
The Community of Research Engaged Schools team maintain a database of community members and their interests and preferences. This data is collected via an online survey tool (Qualtrics) and updated annually.
This privacy notice relates to this database only. A separate privacy notice covering research project participation will be shared with you should you express an interest in taking part in a specific research project.
Why do we process personal data?
As a publicly funded organisation we undertake research which is in the public interest. The Community of Research Engaged Schools provides opportunities for researchers to work in partnership with external education providers to develop research ideas that directly respond to the needs of educators and the learners that they support.
We ask your organisation for your name, role and contact details (email address and telephone number) so that we can get in touch with you about potential research opportunities that may interest you.
To ensure we have up to date details for you please let us know if your information changes by emailing us at edu_cores@ac.uk. We will also contact you from time to time to check your details are correct and that you are still happy to remain on the database.
Our lawful basis for processing data about you
We rely upon “the performance of a task carried out in the public interest” as our lawful basis for processing personal data.
How do we store personal data?
We use a secure online survey tool (Qualtrics) to collect personal data and transfer this to a protected database stored on the secure University server.
Your rights as a data subject
You have the right to:
- withdraw consent at any time where that is the legal basis of our processing;
- access your personal data that we process;
- rectify inaccuracies in personal data that we hold about you;
- o be forgotten, that is your details to be removed from systems that we use to process your personal data;
- o restrict the processing in certain ways;
- obtain a copy of your data in a commonly used electronic form; and
- object certain processing of your personal data by us.
Please be aware that these rights are subject to certain conditions and exceptions as set out in the data protection legislation.
Retention periods
We will only retain your identifiable personal information for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for.
On an annual basis you will be invited to update your data records. If your education setting decides to withdraw membership from the Community of Research Engaged Schools, then all data including personal data will be removed from the database. You can opt-out at any time, to withdraw membership, contact edu_cores@ac.uk
