Your career

A postgraduate degree from the School of Education provides an excellent foundation for work in some of the world's leading organisations, the teaching profession (both in the UK and abroad) and in many areas of government, including ministries of Education.

You'll develop transferable skills such as critical thinking, team working and project management, as well as advanced research skills through your dissertation or final project. You'll also have access to ongoing career and development support.

Careers support

A Masters degree can really help you to stand out in today’s competitive job market. Our award-winning Careers Centre is on hand to support you from day one, with a variety of activity including:

• career guidance appointments
• support with your CV
• interview advice and practise
• careers fairs and employer presentations
• access to a vacancy database advertising local, national and global vacancies.

You'll also have access to the Leeds Network — an extensive online network of alumni with a wide range of experiences, doing all kinds of jobs. You can contact alumni from the School of Education, or those in careers you’re interested in, to find out how they might be able to help you.

Once you graduate you will still have access to the University of Leeds Careers Centre services.

Preparing for further study

A number of our Masters students also progress onto research degrees to pursue careers in research or academia. As a postgraduate student at Leeds, you can access comprehensive research training, including workshops on writing research proposals and applications for grant funding.
