Staff and students celebrated at Faculty Partnership Awards

The Partnership Awards recognise staff and student successes across teaching, research and innovation, equality and inclusion, and wellbeing.

On 24 April 2024, outstanding teaching, innovative research practice and expertise, and student achievement were celebrated at the Faculty of Social Sciences’ 2024 Faculty Partnership Awards.

The awards, which are part of the Leeds Partnership Awards, allow the University’s students and colleagues to nominate their fellow staff and students for awards that recognise the hard work and dedication of the Faculty’s staff and students.

This year, there were more than 400 nominations from across the faculty and, at the awards ceremony, 21 accolades were given.

The overall Faculty Partnership Award was won by Sarah Shackleton, the Faculty’s Deputy Employability Manager. Sarah received many compelling and heartfelt nominations across multiple categories. The Faculty awarding body stated that,

The nominations characterise her work ethic: incredible passion, integrity, innovation and compassion.

Reading all the nominations spanning several categories, left the panel in no doubt that Sarah embodies the values of the University; she has a direct impact on the lives of staff and students on a daily basis.

Two of the winners of the Faculty Partnership Awards, Matty Burchell and Gergely Kajos, were also shortlisted for University Partnership Awards – Matty for the Innovation Award and Gergely for the Student Academic Rep of the Year Award.
