School of Law hosts annual Postgraduate Research Conference

The conference had three panels and featured ten postgraduate researchers presenting their work.

On 19 May 2023, the School of Law hosted the Postgraduate Research Annual Conference, organized by PGRs Erika Moranduzzo and Valeria Caroli.

The conference had three panels and included presentations by postgraduate researchers from three School of Law research centres.

The full-day event started off with an opening by Erika Moranduzzo and Valeria Caroli. A keynote delivered by Professor Richard Squire, a University of Leeds Liberty Fellow, Professor of Law, Alpin J. Cameron Chair in Law, and Director of Fordham Corporate Law Centre at Fordham University.

The opening was followed by three panels, which had introductory speeches from Professor Ilias Trispiotis (Co-director, Centre for Law and Social Justice), Dr Leopoldo Parada (Deputy Director, Centre for Business Law and Practice) and Professor Conor O’ Reilly (Director, Centre for Criminal Justice Studies).

The PGRs presented on a variety of topics, from climate refugees to cybercrime. It was a fantastic array of the work the School’s PGRs are undertaking.

This year’s event exceeded all our expectations. We were hoping to provide a friendly and encouraging environment of our PGRs to present their work and receive feedback from their peers, the school of law’s academics and their friends; and we managed. It was also fantastic to see so many people coming and actively taking part to the event. PGRs are a great resource for the School of Law and this event has only made this clearer: the School of Law is full of great people with great minds, and we cannot wait to see everyone receiving the recognition they deserve.
