School of Education and CLER researchers present at BAAL Vocabulary SIG conference 2026
Researchers from the School of Education and the Centre for Language and Education Research presented at the BAAL Vocabulary SIG conference 2026
From 28 to 29 May, Yen Dang and four PGRs, Xuechun Huang, Jihye Kang, Minh Nguyen, and Hongyi Zhao, from the Centre for Language and Education Research (CLER) and the School of Education, attended and contributed to the British Association for Applied Linguistics Vocabulary Special Interest Group Conference 2026 at Bangor University.
Yen Dang presented a joint project with John Read (New Zealand) and three collaborators from Vietnam: Dung Cao, Hang Nguyen, and Huu Thanh Minh Nguyen. Dung Cao is a former postgraduate, and Huu Thanh Minh Nguyen is a former masters student of the School of Education.
Xuechun Huang presented a poster on findings from her PhD thesis, which focuses on the effects of Four Strands activities on vocabulary learning.
Jihye Kang, Minh Nguyen, and Hongyi Zhao also attended the conference, engaging with current research and contributing to the School’s presence at this international event.
Participation in the conference reflects the School of Education and CLER’s continued engagement with international research communities in applied linguistics and language education.
