Voices of the Rainforest video revealed at showcase

A showcase was held demonstrating the achievements and recent milestones of the research project, Voices of the Rainforest.

On Tuesday 20 May and Wednesday 21 May, Dr Syafiq Mat Noor, along with Dr Siti Nur Diyana Binti Mahmud, Dr Zanisah Man, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Muhammad Zulfadhli Bin Kamarudin, and Mardhiah Hanum Binti Omar, presented a two-day showcase celebrating the recent milestones reached by the project.

Attendees were invited to view the Voices of the Rainforest’s new project video which takes an in-depth look at the projects aims, achievements, and how the findings being produced can be utilised to produce a traditional ecological knowledge-based curriculum and help to preserve the cultural heritage held by the communities involved.

Hand-crafted items such as intricately hand-woven crowns and sheets were brought from Malaysia and displayed during the showcase, and local honey and mints were sampled by attendees.

Voices of the Rainforest is a British Academy-funded research project which aims to co-create a traditional ecological knowledge-based climate change curriculum for primary schools, in collaboration with indigenous communities, children and school partners across Johor, Kelantan, Pahang and Perak states in Malaysia.
