Professor Michalis Kontopodis invited to speak at 'The 3rd World Conference on Children and Youth 2021'

The conference will take place online across several days from 29 to 30 July 2021.

The conference “is a premier interdisciplinary platform for researchers, practitioners, academicians and social and youth activists to present and discuss the latest research findings, concerns as well as practical challenges encountered and solutions adopted in the fields of Children and Youth”. The conference theme this year will focus on children and youth in an uncertain and unsettled world.

Professor Kontopodis, Chair in Global Childhood and Youth Studies, has been invited to speak at the global event as one of the seven international keynote speakers. Professor Kontopodis will deliver an online keynote lecture entitled ‘Mapping Global Childhood and Youth Futures after COVID-19’.

Additionally, Professor Kontopodis will lead an online workshop for early career academics and practitioners from the non-academic sector. The workshop ‘Working with media and radical imagination in educational settings: from the local to the global and vice-versa’ will analyse the concept of otherness and will draw upon Professor Kontopodis’ research to explore how to work with media and radical imagination in educational settings. He will discuss how to support disadvantaged children and young people to hyper-connect with each other while remembering common pasts and imagining yet unknown futures across urban and rural educational settings.
