Professor Oliver Lewis gave his inaugural lecture at the School of Law on 3 November 2016. Entitled “Disabling Legal Barriers”, the lecture drew on his experience of litigation and advocacy in central and eastern Europe over the last fifteen years. Drawing on the themes of anguish, activism and argument, Oliver called on law students to become social justice activists, whatever area of law they go into. After recently appointing a number of new Scholars, the School of Law is hosting a series of inaugural lectures to mark their arrival in Leeds.
The School has seen an exceptional growth over the past two academic years, appointing over 20 new academics including 8 new Chairs across its research Centres and groups.
