The School of Law publishes groundbreaking research
Research concerning the cost benefits of home adaptations for families with disabled young people has been published by the Cerebra pro bono research programme.
The research was undertaken by pro bono students at the School of Law with key support from the Access Committee for Leeds.
The research project was designed as an exploratory study to assess what the key practical barriers were to families obtaining necessary adaptations and what economic and well-being impacts the provision / non-provision of suitable adaptations had.
The adaptations (which on average each amounted to £60,000) were primarily designed to provide additional ‘safe space’ (including safe garden space) for the young person.
