Dr Jane Richards’ PhD thesis nominated for Li Ka Shing prize

The Li Ka Shing Prizes are awarded annually to up to six MPhil / PhD theses from the University of Hong Kong on the basis of academic excellence.

The School of Law is proud that Dr Jane Richards’ PhD thesis “The Application of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities to the Insanity Defence” has been nominated by the Graduate School for the prestigious Li Ka Shing prize at The University of Hong Kong (HKU).  

I worked incredibly hard to gain my PhD and I am delighted to be nominated for such a prestigious prize.

The Li Ka Shing Prizes are highly competitive and the recipients are the best of the University of Hong Kong (HKU)'s elite students, having submitted the best theses in the Humanities and the Science Faculty groups respectively. Of several 100 PhD thesis submitted each year at HKU, there are only around six awarded each year. The winner will be announced in July.
