The School of Law’s Professor Duncan Sheehan was elected at the Annual General Meeting of the Society of Legal Scholars to the Presidency of the Society for the academic year 2024-2025.
He took up the role of Vice-President Elect on 1 October 2022 before becoming Vice-President in the 2023-2024 academic year.
The Society of Legal Scholars (SLS) is one of the largest learned societies in the UK with a membership of approximately 3000; it publishes Legal Studies, a leading academic law journal and disburses significant sums to members to support their research and holding of events and small conferences etc. The SLS (formerly called The Society of Public Teachers of Law) was founded in 1908 and has charitable status. It is the oldest as well as the largest learned society in the field of law.
The Society holds an annual conference in September which will be held at the University of Leeds in 2025.
I am honoured to be elected as Vice-President Elect of the SLS after serving the society in a variety of capacities over the years.

I look forward to bringing the conference to Leeds in 2025 and helping to move the work of the society forward.
