School of Law food waste expert Dr Carrie Bradshaw discusses England’s ‘new’ approach to food waste in Faculti podcast
In the lead up to the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26), Dr Bradshaw speaks about the impact that changes in food waste policy could have on climate change.
Dr Carrie Bradshaw, an expert in Environmental Law and Food Waste, has previously been a member of the Land Use Working Group working group as part of the Rebuilding a Resilient Britain project and submitted evidence to Parliamentary Committee on Covid and food security.
In the Faculti podcast, Dr Bradshaw discusses England’s ‘new’ approach to food waste in light of concerns that policy-makers have framed food waste as a consumer behavioural problem rather than a structural challenge.
If the UK is going to reach its climate change goals, then it has to stop treating overproduction as the elephant in the room of food waste policy. One third of all food produced globally is wasted. If food waste were a country it would be the 3rd biggest emitter of greenhouse gases after China and the US.
Earlier this year Dr Bradshaw presented at an event from the Priestley International Centre for Climate’s lead up to COP26; ‘From Farm to Fork: The Climate Impact of our Food’.
