Professor Akman speaks at European Data Summit

Professor Pinar Akman was an invited speaker at the European Data Summit held in Berlin on 23-25 October 2019.

The Summit was organised by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation under the motto “competition matters”.

Professor Akman, Director of the Centre for Business Law and Practice, and Director at the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence in Digital Governance, spoke on a panel focussing on whether competition law is outdated for application in digital markets, in particular concerning the prohibition of abuse of dominance. She was joined on the panel by representatives from the German, Dutch, and Austrian Competition Authorities. The event brought together policymakers, data specialists, competition specialists, business representatives, academics, and others.
