The Centre for Criminal Justice Studies has joined the CrimRxiv Consortium

The CrimRxiv Consortium is a network of criminology’s leading institutions and an international open-access repository.

The Centre for Criminal Justice Studies (CCJS) at the School of Law has announced that it has become a member of the CrimRxiv Consortium, an international open-access repository for research in criminology and criminal justice. The Consortium, launched in autumn 2023, is an international grouping of organisations and institutions that support CrimRxiv and its mission to advance open research in criminology. CCJS is the 23rd member overall, joining groups from Belgium, Canada, England, Germany, New Zealand, Spain, and the United States.

“The addition of Leeds to the Consortium is fantastic,” said Scott Jacques, the founder of CrimRxiv, its Associate Director for Sustainability, and Professor of Criminology at Georgia State University. “The Centre is innovative and committed to collaboration with policymakers and practitioners. It is an impressive contributor to open criminology.”

David Churchill, Co-Director of the Centre for Criminal Justice Studies, commented, “It is a privilege for the Centre to join the CrimRxiv Consortium. We are delighted to be part of this fantastic and important initiative to enhance the accessibility of research in criminology and criminal justice on an international scale.”

To increase their visibility and impact, each Member has its own “Hub” on CrimRxiv, which aggregates and centralizes their open access publications. The Centre’s Hub highlights their researchers’ articles, reports, and more. Visit it now to browse their latest work.

CCJS’ support for CrimRxiv was generously funded by the University Library, through the Open Access Support Fund. This fund was launched this year and is designed to support open access and open research initiatives that will lead to a sustainable increase in the amount of open content being made available. A webpage for the fund and information on how suggestions can be submitted for it will be released in autumn this year.
