Sarah Howard delivers key note on authenticity in education in the age of AI
EAPRIL 2025, held at the University of Malta, explored the vital role of authenticity in a time where AI and rapid technological advancements are changing how we approach education.
The theme ‘Keeping it real: embracing authenticity in education in the age of AI and innovation’, invited attendees of the European Association for Practitioner Research on Improving Learning (EAPRIL) 2025 to reflect upon what ‘real’ really means when learning environments are progressively being shaped by these innovations.
The Keynote speech, given jointly by Professor Sarah Howard at the University of Leeds’ School of Education, and Vrije Universiteit Brussel’s Professor Jo Tondeur, ‘Embracing the unknown: Teachers’ professional learning and AI’ considers the relationship between educators, professional learning, and AI-advancements through examining claims, the possible benefits offered by these new technologies, and the conditions required to enable teachers to effectively navigate a future wherein AI plays a pivotal role.
