Dr Matt Homer and Dr Rachel Mathieson develop resources to support the uptake of Core Maths

Dr Matt Homer and Dr Rachel Mathieson have worked with external partners to produce a range of briefings and videos about Core Maths, the relatively new post-16 qualification.

The resources have been created as a follow-up to the final project report of The early uptake of Core Maths; successes and challenges research project which was published in September 2020.

Over the last year, Dr Homer and Dr Mathieson have continued to raise the profile of Core Maths by working with the Advanced Mathematics Support Programme (AMSP) and the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM) to develop a variety of resources designed to support the take-up of the qualification. The short films and briefings build on their research findings, and allow a range of participants (including students, teachers and employers) to talk about maths – and the importance of Core Maths in particular – for life, education and work.
