Voices of the Rainforest Showcase

Voices of the Rainforest showcase, celebrating the milestones reached by this British Academy-funded project.

You’re warmly invited to the Voices of the Rainforest Showcase, where we celebrate recent milestones of this British Academy-funded project.

Voices of the Rainforest is a research project that aims to co-create a traditional ecological knowledge-based climate change curriculum for primary schools, in collaboration with indigenous communities, children and school partners across Johor, Kelantan, Pahang and Perak states in Malaysia.

The research project is a collaboration between the University of Leeds and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.

This showcase will feature the launch of a project video, an exhibition, and a presentation of preliminary findings, with a particular focus on teachers’ beliefs and the traditional ecological knowledge related to climate change among the indigenous Jahai, Jakun, and Semai communities.

We warmly welcome educators, researchers, and practitioners with an interest in climate education, and in participatory, indigenous, ethnographic, and creative methodologies.

The launch of the Voices of the Rainforest Showcase will begin on Tuesday, 20 May 2025, at 11.00am. Light refreshments and networking will follow, and the exhibition will remain open until Wednesday, 21 May 2025, at 5.00pm.

This event is free, and you’re welcome to invite others.
