Professor Sommerlad collaborates with Lund University

Professor Hilary Sommerlad was recently invited to participate in two international research collaborations and to present on her work at Lund University.
On 12 January, at a workshop on Continuity and Change in the Legal Profession, held at the Faculty of Law, University of Copenhagen, Professor Sommerlad and her co-author, Professor Pete Sanderson, presented ‘Change, continuity and crisis in the legal profession: the role of gender’.
On 16 January Professor Sommerlad delivered a paper, ‘From social citizenship and democratic lawyering to market citizenship: reflections on a process of de-professionalisation and de-humanisation’ to the Sociology of Law Department, Lund University.
From 25-26 January, Professor Sommerlad participated in a two-day workshop held at the University of Southern Denmark for contributors to a forthcoming anthology: European Welfare Rights in Practice: Regulation, Professionals, and Citizens (Palgrave, Macmillan 2023) and, with Professor Sanderson, presented the chapter: ‘Encounters between welfare professionals and citizens’.
Professor Hilary Sommerlad is the School of Law’s Chair in Law and Social Justice and joint co-ordinator of the Legal Professions Research Group.
