Gill Main discusses Social Inclusion at Chatham House

Academic Fellow Gill Main will be joining a panel to discuss What are the Causes of Social Exclusion? at Chatham House in London on the 11th October 2016.

Social exclusion encompasses various social, political, cultural and economic dimensions. It impacts people in varying ways and to differing degrees throughout their lives and can cause disenfranchisement, contribute towards acts of violent extremism and effect the cohesion of society as a whole.

This panel aims to reflect on some of the causes of social exclusion and address the effect it has on those who are excluded. The panellists will analyze the effect that youth poverty, a criminal record, ethnicity and age has on individuals in the UK and beyond. It will also consider different approaches to tackling social exclusion and what can be done to help those that are most marginalized.
