My research interests lie principally in the field of voting behaviour, particularly in France and other European countries.

I have co-authored two books, with Gilles Ivaldi, on the 2012 and the 2017 French Presidential elections (Palgrave-Macmillan). I am the author of Voters and Voting: an Introduction (Sage, 2004); co-editor, with Kai Arzheimer, of Electoral Behaviour (Sage, 2008) in the Library of Political Science series; and co-editor, with Kai Arzheimer and Michael Lewis-Beck of the Sage Handbook of Electoral Behaviour (Sage, 2017).

I served as editor of Parliamentary Affairs between 2005 and 2011. I have held visiting research positions at the ZA-Eurolab in Cologne, Germany, and the CIDSP, Grenoble, France, and have worked as co-investigator on the four most recent ESRC Northern Ireland General Election Studies.
