This nexus of research expertise saw itself represented in and by his inaugural lecture, ‘Climate Politics in the Shadow of Genocide’.

Professor Selby’s talk asked its audience to observe and consider the commonalities between international responses to global climate change and to the ‘ongoing Western-backed atrocities in Gaza’.

The lecture was followed by an extended Q&A session, and finally by a drinks reception.

As we pass the halfway point in this year’s Faculty Inaugural Series, we would like to thank Professors Joanne Greenhalgh, Henry Yeomans, Diane Pecorari and Jan Selby for their brilliant lectures, as well as everyone who has joined us in celebrating the outstanding achievements of these four speakers.

On Thursday 30 January 2025, the series will recommence with a lecture given by the School of Law’s Professor Jose Pina-Sánchez. Full details and registration information will follow in due course.
