POLIS Forum - The Impact of Europe

The second POLIS Forum of the year will be a special on the Impact of Europe with a particular focus on EU law and how it is implemented.

Speakers

Greg Barnes

This talk will focus on Greg's PhD topic -  the role of markets and market creation in EU public procurement. Procurement plays an integral part of the EU Single European Market and affects nearly every aspect of government policy implementation in the member states. Greg argues that the combined impact serves to redefine the notion of the modern liberal democratic state.

Andy Morton

This talk will focus on Andy's PhD examination of EU law’s influence over the legal and wage bargaining institutions of German and British industrial relations. He argues that current theoretical tools in academia have neglected legal institutions and broader questions of law at an empirical as well theoretical level, which are vital in understanding national and European policy questions.

We hope you will come and participate in what promises to be a stimulating discussion about the important cases and topics our speakers will raise.

BA, MA and PhD students as well as staff members from across POLIS and beyond are welcome to attend.

There will be drinks in Old Bar after the session.
