Dr Chris Dietz interviewed for New Books Network Podcast ‘New Books in Law’
The New Books Network is a consortium of author-interview podcast channels dedicated to public education.
The School of Law’s Dr Jane Richards interviewed colleague Dr Chris Dietz about his new book ‘Self-declaration in the Legal Recognition of Gender’ (Routledge, 2023) for the New Books Network Podcast ‘New Books in Law’.
Dr Dietz's book examines the impact of legislation premised upon the principle of ‘self-declaration’ of legal gender status.
We had a brilliant discussion about the issues engaged in the ongoing culture wars about trans rights. Dr Dietz gives a really insightful take on a complex issue – we spoke about the limits of legal regulation in protecting human rights and the way that medicine and law intersect to erode trans rights.
