The Centre for Criminal Justice Studies hosts Professor Andrew Goldsmith as a Liberty Fellow

As part of his fellowship, Professor Goldsmith will deliver the 2024 Liberty Lecture.

The School of Law has welcomed Professor Andrew Goldsmith as a 2024 Liberty Fellow at the Centre for Criminal Justice Studies.

Andrew Goldsmith is currently a Matthew Flinders Distinguished Emeritus Professor of Criminology at Flinders University, where he established the Crime and Security Research Centre. His research interests include corruption and anti-corruption, crime prevention and crime policy, organised crime, police governance and accountability, and transnational crime.

Professor Goldsmith will be hosted by Professor Dave Wall and the Centre for Criminal Justice Studies. Professor Conor O’ Reilly, the Director of CCJS, said this:

We at the Centre for Criminal Justice Studies and the School of Law are delighted to welcome Professor Andrew Goldsmith of Flinders University as our Liberty Fellow for 2024. Professor Goldsmith is a world-leading scholar who has pioneered research into fields such as organised crime, policing, cybercrime and corruption. During his stay at Leeds he will deliver the Liberty Lecture, one of our key annual events, and will be addressing the changing landscape of police accountability over the last 50 years and ongoing challenges to public trust in police.

On 30 October, Professor Goldsmith will deliver the 2024 Liberty Lecture on the broad topic of police accountability. While at the School, he will also give a PGR/ECR seminar and engage with PGRs and staff.

Liberty Fellows are invited to spend between two weeks and three months at the School of Law to take a full and active role in the research life of the School. Click here to find out more information on Liberty Fellows and other visiting scholars.
