Aesthetics and legal pedagogy

Rosie Taylor-Harding will be delivering the latest work-in-progress seminar: Aesthetics and Legal Pedagogy.

Visual learning methods are an exciting development in legal pedagogy. Images are a rich learning tool that can be integrated into the learning experience beyond the medium of PowerPoint. Aesthetics can be employed within learning spaces to facilitate understanding of difficult concepts and encourage students to think creatively about legal issues.

Art enables the development of critical perspectives of law, such as analysing historical paintings to draw new understandings about land law, or the use of comics to tell courtroom stories.

This session will encourage participants to consider the possibilities of incorporating visual learning methods into their pedagogical practice.

Paper and pens will be provided – and doodling is encouraged!
