China's Newly Revised Arbitration Law

Guest Speaker Henry Huang will deliver a CBLP seminar on China's Newly Revised Arbitration Law.

The Centre for Business Law and Practice is delighted to welcome guest speaker Henry Huang (Liberty Fellow, Grandall Law Firm, Shanghai, China) to deliver a seminar on ‘China's newly revised Arbitration Law’.

Abstract: This session will explore the foreign-related arbitration provisions of China's newly revised Arbitration Law (effective March 2026), a pivotal update supporting high-level opening-up and international commercial dispute resolution. It will focus on core amendments, including the introduction of a new ‘arbitration seat’ system, the expanded scope of foreign-related cases, and the establishment of an ‘ad hoc arbitration’ mechanism, which will enhance the compatibility of China's arbitration practice with global standards such as the UNCITRAL Model Law. Key measures to boost cross-border arbitration, such as allowing overseas arbitral institutions to operate in designated zones and promoting the global expansion of Chinese arbitration institutions, will also be examined, along with how these revisions will strengthen China's position as a preferred international arbitration venue.
