Professor Akman delivers keynote address on 'breaking up big tech'

Professor Pinar Akman has delivered a keynote address at an international symposium on ‘Antitrust Populism: Tech Giants Under Scrutiny in the EU and the US’.

The symposium took place on 18 September 2018 at Leicester De Montfort University.

In her speech, Professor Akman, Director of the Centre for Business Law and Practice, discussed the use of structural remedies in potential competition law investigations against big technology companies such as Google, Facebook, Amazon, and others.

The papers from the symposium will be published in a special issue of the European Journal of Law and Economics in due course.

In November 2017, Professor Akman was awarded a Philip Leverhulme Prize (£100,000) which she will use to continue her research into various aspects of the application of competition law in digital markets.
