Professor Pinar Akman appointed to the Competition Appeal Tribunal
The Competition Appeal Tribunal is the UK's specialist judicial body with cross-disciplinary expertise in law, economics, business and accountancy.
The School of Law’s Professor Pinar Akman has been appointed as an Ordinary Member to the Competition Appeal Tribunal ("the Tribunal") by the Minister for Enterprise, Markets and Small Business.
The Tribunal is the UK's specialist judicial body with cross-disciplinary expertise in law, economics, business and accountancy whose function is to hear and decide cases involving competition or economic regulatory issues. Amongst others, the CAT hears appeals on the merits in respect of decisions made under the Competition Act 1998, applications for the review of decisions made in respect of merger and market investigations under the Enterprise Act 2002, as well as private actions including collective actions.
I am honoured and very excited to join the Competition Appeal Tribunal. I look forward to contributing to the future development of UK competition law in this judicial role.
Professor Akman has been appointed to this judicial role for eight years as of 5 June 2023.
