Professor Pinar Akman appointed to the Financial Conduct Authority's new Innovation Advisory Group
The Financial Conduct Authority regulates the conduct of 50,000 firms in the UK to ensure that our financial markets are honest, competitive and fair.
Professor Pinar Akman was appointed to the Financial Conduct Authority's (FCA) new Innovation Advisory Group. The FCA, UK's regulator of financial services and financial markets, set up an Innovation Advisory Group to help their Innovation Department achieve its objective of promoting competition in the interest of consumers.
I am delighted to join a distinguished and diverse group of experts at the FCA and I look forward to providing insights to the Authority on matters concerning innovation and competition.
The Group will provide input into planned initiatives, bring to the FCA’s attention to key issues or concerns impacting the FinTech and RegTech sectors, and identify opportunities for continued innovation in financial services, and collaboration between the industry and the regulator. The insights of the Group will help to shape the FCA’s view of innovation in financial services
Professor Akman has recently been profiled as one of the "world's most influential" antitrust academics across all disciplines by Global Competition Review and been shortlisted for a W@ 5 Star Professionals UK & Ireland award, in the ‘Shining Star’ category alongside other inspirational female competition specialists.
