Professor Judith Hanks at the School of Education, was invited by the Norway Forum for English for Academic Purposes (NFEAP) to present as a plenary speaker at their 18th annual summer conference, held at Oslo Metropolitan University, Oslo, Norway.
The conference was themed ‘EAP and the unforeseen’, raising in-depth and thought-provoking discussions and ideas into what is foreseen, and what is unforeseeable in English for academic purposes (EAP).
The conference brought together attendees and speakers from all over the world and allowed attendees to view how others had taken different approaches to thinking about and tackling the unforeseen in EAP.

Professor Judith Hank’s speech, titled ‘Exploring The Unforseen in EAP’ discusses exploring disruptions and embracing the unforeseen in EAP, and the perceived sense of threat which often accompanies this.
It was really interesting to see how different people brought [the theme] as a lens to look through at their work.
