The REACH (Reading for CompreHension) Primary project is an educational trial funded by the Education Endowment Foundation.

REACH Primary is an intervention designed to improve the reading skills of pupils in Year 3. It is based on a programme called REACH, which in a previous EEF trial was shown to have positive impacts on secondary school pupils reading skills.

REACH Primary is for the weakest readers in Year 3 and is delivered by Teaching Assistants (TAs) trained by researchers from the University of Leeds and comprises 60 x 30 minute individual support sessions per pupil.

The project is managed by Dr Paula Clarke (School of Education, University of Leeds) in collaboration with Dr Shirley-Anne Paul (York Trials and Statistics Unit, University of York). The Research Fellow working on the project is Dr Peter Hart (School of Education, University of Leeds).
