Embedding social justice in the language teacher education curriculum.
In this talk, I will discuss ways in which we could design and enact a social justice-oriented language teacher education curriculum. First, I will describe the main findings of a two-year collaborative action research study carried out with in-service as well as pre-service teachers of English in Argentina. Second, I will describe the work of the Towards Intersectionality in Language Teacher Education (TILTED) Group at the University of Edinburgh and how our discussions have informed curricular changes in the MSc TESOL and MSc Language Education programmes not only in relation to our students but also the tutors involved in these programmes. The presentation will close with provocations to extend the conversation and promote different ways of researching and doing social justice language teacher education.
