Call for Papers - Graduate School Conference 2019

Postgraduate Researchers from across the faculty are warmly invited to present their research and attend our annual Graduate School Postgraduate Research Conference on Friday 29 March 2019.

This is a great opportunity for you to discuss your research, receive constructive feedback and brush up on your presentation skills in a friendly and supportive environment.

It is also an opportunity for you to meet and share your ideas with Postgraduate Researchers working in schools from across the faculty.

This is an important event in the calendar of the Graduate School – so do please take advantage of this opportunity by submitting an abstract to one of the following calls:

  • PechaKucha-style presentations

Would you like to present an area or part of your research in the format of a concise and fast-paced 7 minute presentation? The idea behind PechaKucha is to use a maximum of 20 slides (you can use less than this if you wish) spending around 20 seconds on each slide, focusing on the key issues that you want to communicate to your audience.

Abstract: please submit a 150 word (maximum) abstract to the Conference Organising Committee, using the contact details below.

  • Poster presentations - £50 1st prize, £25 runner-up prizes to be won

We will be holding a poster presentation at lunchtime during the conference, where delegates will be able to walk around the displays and listen to you talk about your research through the form of a poster presentation. There will be a vote to judge the best poster by the conference delegates, and prizes will be presented at the close of the conference.

**OD&PL have a fantastic online training video on how to do a poster presentation – you can access it here. We will also be offering a feedback session on your posters before you present. More details will follow in due course **

Abstract: please submit a 150 word (maximum) abstract (along with the title of your poster) to the Conference Organising Committee, using the contact details below.

  • Paper presentations

We welcome all types of paper presentations, including those based on work-in progress, overviews of planned work, preliminary fieldwork observations, interim or concluding findings, and design and methodological approaches. Please note that these presentations will be expected to be 15 minutes in length.
