From Panama to Paradise: Does the Economic Crime (Transparency and Enforcement) Act 2022 Go Far Enough?
- Date: Tuesday 26 April 2022, 14:00 – 15:00
- Location: Online
- Cost: free
This seminar will be co-hosted by the Centre for Business Law and Practice and the Centre for Criminal Justice Studies.
This paper highlights the association between the United Kingdom and financial crime as exposed by the Panama and Paradise Papers and challenges the rating provided by the Financial Action Task Force in its 2018 Mutual Evaluation Report. The paper presents evidence that the Economic Crime (Transparency and Enforcement) Act 2022 does not go far enough and continues to represent a disjointed financial crime strategy.
