Dr. Ci Ren

Profile

My research examines contemporary issues in business law, corporate law, and financial regulation from a comparative and international perspective, with a focus on English, US, and Asian legal systems. My work addresses key developments in the modern commercial landscape, such as directors’ duties, capital market regulation, and financial safety nets. My papers have been published in peer-reviewed law journals in the UK, US and Asia. These studies have contributed meaningfully to debates on corporate governance and financial innovation, and have led to invitations to write for prominent law and finance platforms such as Columbia Law School’s Blog (the Blue Sky Blog), Duke University’s FinReg Blog, and the American Legal Blogger (run by the American Bar Association).
I have taught extensively across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Before joining Leeds, I have contributed to the LLM modules in International Financial Law and Law & Policy of Fintech at King’s College London. I also served as Visiting Lecturer and Module Leader at Queen Mary University of London, where I taught Company Law and Corporate Governance.
I welcome PhD supervision enquiries from prospective students interested in Company Law, International Financial Law, or Fintech Regulation.
