POLIS students present papers at the British Conference of Undergraduate Research
Undergraduate students Vineeta Sehmbi and Reem Al-Ajeel presented papers at the British Conference of Undergraduate Research on the 14 and 15 of April.
This annual national conference, which this year took place at the University of Nottingham, aims to promote undergraduate research in all disciplines through the presentation of spoken papers, lectures, posters and workshops, encouraging students to think of themselves as academic researchers.
Like many other students, Vineeta and Reem presented papers based on their final year dissertations.
Vineeta comments on her experience,
'I was nervous about my spoken presentation but it went really well. I was asked a lot of questions and many students came up to me afterwards to discuss my research. I enjoyed watching the other presentations, which covered a wide range of subject areas - I learned so much! It was also great to meet fellow politics students from around the country and explore Nottingham University's very picturesque campus.'
Reem adds,
'What I enjoyed most about the conference was the insight into different subject areas, and it was great to see how passionate everyone was about their projects. I found presenting my topic to people from different degrees sparked interesting questions I hadn’t considered which I think has improved my research. Overall, I would definitely recommend students to take part.’
