Victoria Honeyman: ‘David Cameron escapes parliament just as a committee blames him for Libya’s collapse’
Dr Victoria Honeyman wrote an article released on The Conversation this week discussing the ‘convenient’ timing of David Cameron’s departure from parliament.
Victoria mentions how Cameron has stepped down as MP for Whitney in Oxfordshire, and was consequently not in Westminster to hear the conclusion of the Foreign Affairs Select Committee which has released a report on the British government’s 2011 action in Libya.
Victoria writes about the Committee’s report findings; the action in Libya not being informed by accurate intelligence and the argument that the planning for a post-conflict Libya was flawed – the blame lying with David Cameron.
The article continues by taking a look at previous decisions taken by the British government in relation to the Iraq war, and the lessons which should have been drawn from this.
