Tenth anniversary of the Paris Agreement article by Head of School published by Open Access Government

Head of the School of Politics and International Studies, Professor Richard Beardsworth, reflects on the Paris Agreement and considers what issues will be at the top of the agenda at COP30.

COP30 marks the tenth anniversary of the Paris Agreement: a historic treaty that set out the goal of limiting the temperature increase caused by global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. With the world currently on course to far exceed this increase by the end of the century, Professor Beardsworth reflects on COP21 and asks where things stand before the next Conference of the Parties in November.
