Professor Jason Ralph on UK foreign policies and Ukraine

In his latest article in The Conversation, Professor Jason Ralph addresses Sir Keir Starmer’s foreign policy options in relation to Donald Trump and the conflict in Ukraine.
In an article entitled ‘Keir Starmer at the White House: what ‘progressive realism’ now means in relation to Ukraine and Donald Trump’, Professor of International Relations Jason Ralph asks whether Starmer can find a way to balance progressive and realist foreign policies as he navigates the complex political situation of negotiating a peace deal for Ukraine with Donald Trump in the White House.
…[Keir] was pragmatic because he realised the only way to advance progressive principles was to persuade Trump that they set out the path to a sustainable peace. For this reason, my colleague Jamie Gaskarth and I have argued UK policy might better be described as ‘progressive pragmatism’.
