Leeds academic honoured by Indonesian Ambassador
This week, to mark the finale of the 75th anniversary year marking diplomatic relations between the UK and Indonesia, Dr Adam Tyson was presented with a prestigious ‘Ambassadors’ 75 Award’.
In 2024, Indonesia and the UK celebrated 75 years of diplomatic relations, under the theme of “People, Planet, Prosperity and Peace”.
As part of the commemorative activities, His Majesty’s Ambassador Dominic Jermey and Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia, Desra Percaya launched “Ambassadors’ 75 Awards”.
Our achievements are indeed not only the result of the two Governments working together but also our local communities, business, scientists, artist, academics and many more.
At the awards ceremony hosted at the Indonesian embassy, London on 5 February, Dr Adam Tyson, Pro-Dean for International in Leeds’ Faculty of Social Sciences and Associate Professor of Southeast Asian Politics at the School of Politics and International Studies was bestowed his award in recognition of his ‘exceptional contribution to strengthening and deepening the UK-Indonesia relationship’.
On receiving the award, Adam said:
It is such a privilege, and a testament to the importance of international partnerships in higher education. I look forward to the next chapter in Indonesia-UK relations, and I am confident that the University of Leeds will continue to deliver positive change as a hub for knowledge exchange and innovation between British and Indonesian students and academics.
