Dr Madeleine Le Bourdon hosts Festival of Social Science Event for Secondary School Pupils in Leeds
POLIS awareness demonstrated at the Festival of Social Sciences to inspire Leeds students to make an impact in the sector.
As part of the Festival of Social Science, School of Politics and International Studies Dr Madeleine Le Bourdon, in partnership with Diversity in Development, hosted more than 45 high school students from across Leeds to introduce them to the field of International Development. The aim of the event, which took place on 8 November 2022, was to connect young people from groups who are currently underrepresented in the sector to global social justice issues.
Alongside Madeleine, Professor Anne Tallontire (Pro-Dean for Student Education) and former Leeds graduate Amy Randles presented on the routes into working and studying International Development.
The festival is an annual event that showcases leading social science research or social science-related events to engage and inspire public audiences and young people as part of a wider programme of events taking place across the UK. The full events list can be found here.
