Alumna becomes the first female Muslim Minister to speak from the House of Commons

Alumna and Conservative MP Nusrat Ghani this week became the first female Muslim Minister to speak from the House of Commons dispatch box.

The Wealden, East Sussex MP - who became the Minister for Transport in the Prime Minister's cabinet reshuffle last week - addressed the issue of disabled access in train stations in response to the opposition's argument that disabled people are being designed out of the rail service.

Ms Ghani later shared her achievement on social media and spoke about the significance of the milestone this year, which marks 100 years since women over 30 won the right to vote.
