Shaping the UN agenda on gender, violence and peace
In June 2020 Dr Aroussi was selected to be on the UN Women Roster of Experts on Ending Violence against Women for two years.
Members of the Roster are invited to undertake short to medium term assignments at the UN Headquarter and at Regional or Country office level that require specific expertise in areas related to EVAW based on arising needs.
Dr Aroussi was a lead consultant on a study on women in the judiciaries of the Arab region funded by The United Nations Economic Commission for Western Asia in partnership and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.
This study examined women's role in judicial institutions across the MENA countries and identified the best regional practices. The study recommends strategies for member states to ensure women's full and equal participation in the judiciary.
