Professor Cristina Leston-Bandeira becomes a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences
POLIS would like to congratulate Professor Leston-Bandeira for being recognised by the Academy of Social Sciences for her contributions to social science.
Professor Cristina Leston-Bandeira, Professor of Politics in the School of Politics and International Studies and chair of the International Parliament Engagement Network, has been announced as one of 45 social scientists awarded a Fellowship in the Academy’s autumn cohort.
The Academy of Social Sciences is a community of academics, societies and practitioners in the social sciences who aim to promote the social sciences in the UK for public benefit.
Professor Leston-Bandeira, whose research focuses on parliament and political engagement, will join this community of 1,600 Fellows comprising of leading social scientists from academia, the public, private and third sectors. Their research spans a range of social sciences disciplines that address some of the major challenges facing communities, society, places and economies.
All Academy Fellows are elected by their peers for their excellence in their fields and their substantial contributions to social science for public benefit. Selection is through an independent peer review which recognises their excellence and impact.

Professor Leston-Bandeira, who was nomintated for the prestigious Fellowship by the Political Studies Association, said she was, “absolutely delighted to become a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences”.
