New research by Dr Yoshi Kobayashi published in the American Journal of Political Science
Dr Kobayashi's co-authored paper has been published by the AJPS.
Research by Associate Professor in Global Political Economy and Development, Dr Yoshi Kobayashi, has been published by the American Journal of Political Science in April 2023. The research paper, ‘No Entry in a Pandemic: Public Support for Border Closures’, was co-authored with Menevis Cilizoglu (St Olaf College), Tobias Heinrich (University of South Carolina), and William Christiansen (Mount St. Mary’s University).
The paper investigates public demands for border closures during times of global, infectious disease outbreaks – the most recent and most pressing example of which was the COVID-19 pandemic.
In its investigation, Dr Kobayashi et al.’s research draws attention to an important gap between the World Health Organisation’s guidance against border closures and the British public’s increased support for border closures during a period of pandemic crisis.
Dr Kobayashi et al.’s full research paper is available to read Open Access on the AJPS’s website.
