Dr Victoria Honeyman discusses what’s next for Brexit in The Conversation

Dr Victoria Honeyman has written an article for The Conversation and The Business Times Africa about what can and should be done next to strike a deal on Brexit.

Dr Honeyman discusses five possible outcomes over the next two months to the March 29 2019 deadline: present a new deal; cross-party talks; extend Article 50; hold a second referendum or a no-deal Brexit.

Discussing all the options, Dr Honeyman concludes:

“None of the options open to the UK government and parliament are particularly attractive – and all have long-term costs – but the usual practice is that when the parliament of the UK cannot make a decision, the issue is put back to the public. Whether that can realistically be done now is hard to tell but no democracy should ever avoid the opinions of its own people.”
