School of Law Professor Surya Subedi OBE has submitted his latest report on human rights in Cambodia to the UN Human Rights Council.
In this latest report, he focuses on the role of the Cambodian judiciary upon the human rights situation in the South East Asian country.
He offers a number of recommendations in the report, including steps to enhance judiciary independence and reform of the Supreme Council of Magistracy, along with other legal and judicial reforms.
Professor Subedi serves as the UN Special Rapporteur for Human Rights in Cambodia. He was appointed as the UN envoy in 2009.
He has submitted the report to the 15th session of the Human Rights Council, which is currently taking place at the Palais des Nations in Geneva and runs from 13 September to 1 October.
